I’m preempting tonight’s planned update because something rather unexpected happened, and I have to mention it here. Yours truly has a guest appearance on Cine2Nerdle, which should be accessible on its homepage right now (if you're reading these words the same day they went up. Otherwise, it should be archived as puzzle #81.)
Cine2Nerdle is the most delightful Wordle variant I’ve tried in ages, recommended to me by puzzlehead Sandy Weisz, and also spotlit by the Washington Post. My wife and I loved it so much we pre-empted our movie night for it. Swap around the tiles as seen above until you have some rows and columns of four each that represent movies. There are sometimes four sets, but more often (and in my puzzle), there are five. And there are always rows and columns, so at least some tiles will be crossed to represent multiple movies.
If you followed my posts here about the Ubercross Abecedaria A, you’ll know that I was already thinking a lot about unlikely connections between movies. So when I saw the developer, Nilanth Yogdasan, allowed submissions, I was like, “Well, I do have a few ideas…” Nilanth was very helpful with the slight tweaks it needed, and I hope this project leads him to the success he richly deserves.
(I also hope Janice can forgive me for doing most of the puzzles without her after that one night we tore through them together. I had to make sure my ideas hadn’t already been used, honey! I did it for art!)
I'll get back to talking about cluing crosswords tomorrow, but until then, check out my newest baby here.
