Busy lately, and I’ve latched onto an idea that’ll take some time to develop. In the meantime, I wanted to share with you the palindromic works of Demetri Martin, stand-up comedian, late-night TV host, and published writer of strange and interesting ideas.
Before he did any of that, he composed his first major palindrome at Yale, which he’d later turn into a comedy routine. You can find “Dammit, I’m mad” at this page. It’s 224 words long, and holds together reasonably well. He further discussed it as part of an overall comedy routine, seen in this video;
More recently, Martin wrote a 500-word palindrome and a few other “Palindromes for Specific Occasions,” published in his This Is a Book but also findable online. A note of caution: the longer palindrome, found at the end of the link below, is on the racy side, probably not safe for work. If that doesn’t trouble you, you can check them both out here…the longest palindrome is the last one.
