So I’ve been doing this…blog? Substack? this regular publication of my thoughts as much to keep myself on track as for any benefit of yours. I need some kind of organizing system, or the things that I want to get done…don’t get done.
Still, it’s time we took some steps to expand our audience a little. Here’s my five-point near-term plan to get Ubercross stuff a little more noticed. (Image by Natalie Dee.)
“Small-letter” puzzles that show off a scaled-down version of some of the Ubercross’s ideas. I need to engage with the indie crossword-making community a little more directly, and to do that, I need some puzzles that aren’t going to take uncommon dedication to publish and solve. Look for one of these tomorrow.
Site issues fixed. You will soon see these posts, as well as some preliminary changes, on Ubercross.com. I’ll be bringing that site up to speed as we roll out Ubercross Abecedaria B, the day after tomorrow.
Reaching out to the community. Bloggers and podcasters and such, I’ll be knocking on your doors! For many years, I’ve followed along with the purveyors of crossword culture; now it’s time I engage with some of them more directly again and see what we can create together.
Art showing. There will be a display of Ubercrosses and other work of mine at a gallery near the D.C. area.
ACPT showing. A significant chunk of the Ubercross Abecedaria will appear at the American Crossword Puzzle Tournament in Stamford, Connecticut. Hope to see you there!
Hey, Matt! I am going to go ahead and make the smaller grids come out on Wednesdays, too. So that'll be new crosswords every Wednesday, alternating between small and big. Hopefully, that'll make things a bit easier on you! I'll follow your advice and hit you up through the tip link a bit later.
Hi T - Matt from Daily Crossword Links. We're set to include each abecedaria -- looks like every other Wednesday. Is there a schedule for the smaller grids? We'll also plan to do a blurb in one of our News & Notes (and say hi at ACPT) -- feel free to reach us through the tip link on our site!
