I’m still getting comments on yesterday’s piece via Substack, email, and Discord. I’m tempted to respond to them here, but I think I should turn them over in my head a bit first. But thanks, everyone!
Spent yesterday afternoon on the laptop working on something I’ll be proud to announce here when it’s ready, but that’s taking a little more processing time than I hoped. I’ve got a few other thoughts running around up here [taps skull] that just aren’t ready to be full-fledged posts either.
But I promised y’all something light for today, so here goes:
The bulb by my side of the bed has started to burn out. Since it’s a newer bulb, that means that when I flip it on, it’s barely lit for a short period, less than a minute, but then it assumes full brightness. I know this should be a sign to change the bulb, but I actually prefer this to the bulb flicking on immediately and fully? Especially in the mornings, it feels like I’m getting a little more time to relax before the day begins. If you advertised this sort of “slow-wake” bulb to me with the delayed turn-on as a feature, not a bug, I’d probably buy a few—though I don’t think Janice shares my enthusiasm, so I could only use them in fixtures she’s unlikely to turn on first.
At least it’s better than those bulbs that blink for like four minutes when they’re starting to burn out. We had one of those last month, and it drove both of us nuts. For the whole month or so it took us to replace it.
There we go. Next time I promise you “something light,” it’ll be about feathers or balloons.
Light reading -- What a turn on!
