Super Art Fight has been a fixture in sci-fi conventions over the years, a wild competition involving two artists in costumes, one shared canvas, and a series of randomized topics. The resulting graffiti wall usually features its share of nerdy references, drawings trying to subvert other drawings, and once-pretty drawings defaced and humbled by the opposition. The artist who attracts the loudest cheers wins.
Janice and I have watched this group go through several incarnations. At one time, it seemed a bit of a boys’ club. But yesterday’s event featured four competitors, all female or nonbinary.
Yesterday’s Super Art Fight show was the climax of Super Con, a brand-new convention twenty minutes’ walk from our place. With that kind of proximity in play, Janice and I had our day's plans set. Best wishes to the organizers, the competitors, and last night's winner, Shoujo a Gogo!
