As I mentioned, when I did the Uberecross Abecedaria H, there was a Web-available program that could analyze text and pick out haiku. Now, there isn’t.
And I feel like there should be!
A while back, I got great results by offering a $100 bounty to anyone who developed such a tool and made it available to everyone. That story is actually relevant to the next big Ubercross release, so I’ll tell more of it when the time comes.
But I’m repeating that offer here, to all comers. The prize goes to the first person who can show me a Web-based tool that can look at a long string of text and pick out 5/7/5-syllable haikus. People were developing these over twenty years ago, so I don’t think this is too challenging an ask. And it could bring a little of the fun of the early internet back, and who wouldn’t want more of that, right now?
Feel free to signal-boost this anywhere you think it’d be helpful. And watch this space for reporting on the results.
